Monofocal IOL

Monofocal IOL (Intraocular lense) have been used in cataract surgery for over 50 years. They are still very popular and providean excellent option for many patients.

These types of lenses have a fixed focal length, which is usually set for distance vision. These implants offer a good outcome for patients who wish to see distance objects without spectacles but who are happy to wear their glasses for reading.

All patients will need to wear glasses for reading and may also need glasses for other tasks such as using a computer.

Some patients have their non-dominant eye set for near vision, known as monovision. This can reduce the need for reading glasses.

Types of lenses:
AcrySof® IQ IOL
