Independent clinic comparison
Companies more than often like to say, or even advertise that they are "the best". Some laser eye surgery providers even claim 99-100% success rates. It is important to remember however that:
• All leading laser eye surgery providers produce very good results.
• Although no serious complications have arisen from laser eye surgery over 21 years, no surgical procedure is entirely risk-free.
• Claims of 99-100% success rates often based on cherry picked data, e.g. results from the youngest patients or those with lesser prescriptions. This can be misleading unless you read the very small print.
• No laser eye surgery provider can make the statement that
they are the "best" factually as they do not have access to the private medical data needed to make an objective and accurate comparison.
• The Royal College of Ophthalmologists recommends considering how many treatments your surgeon has performed, particularly for patients with a similar prescription to you.
• Our surgeons: Mike Tappin and Rakesh Jayayswal, are both highly qualified and experienced ophthalmic surgeons, who, after many years have treated thousands of patients.
Remember:
• your individual optical characteristics will determine which laser eye correction treatment is most suitable for you. Mike or Rakesh will confirm this at your consultation.
• your expectations for vision and a realistic improvement for you. Always consider risks against the potential benefits before your final decision.
Independent, impartial government and consumer bodies compare laser eye correction providers. See the attached reports:
Care Quality Commission 2009/10 Reports
All laser vision correction clinics need to be registered with the Care Quality Commission and comply with the Care Standards Act 2000 and associated regulation.
The Care Quality Commission produces independent reports and quality ratings for all registered healthcare services set against National Minimum Standards.
